Foodlab N.V. was established in 2016. It is part of the BIG WILL Group N.V., a Surinamese group of companies in the food industry. BIG WILL Group also comprises of N.V. Meelmaatschappij De Molen (Flour Mill), N.V. Veevoerfabriek Suriname VESU (Feed mill), and Caricom Livestock Farm N.V. (TOK brand – poultry processing). With the establishment of Foodlab more value is added to the products, which are manufactured within the group. This fits in the Group’s concept of vertical integration. As a new production unit, Foodlab will focus primarily on the  production of short pastas. The consumption of pasta has become increasingly popular both locally and regionally, which is reflected by the cooking behavior of households and the fact that pasta is included on the menu of almost every restaurant. Currently, the supply of pasta mostly comes from foreign brands. As from 2021, Foodlab will offer the consumer locally produced pasta.
